The post, published around 4:30am, started with a holiday greeting but quickly shifted into a long political outburst. Trump repeated claims about immigration and suggested that migrants receive \u201caround $50,000 a year in benefits,\u201d a statement that has been heavily disputed.<\/p>\n
He then launched into a harsh criticism of Somalia \u2014 the birthplace of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar \u2014 using negative descriptions about the country and its people. Trump accused Governor Walz of allowing Somali refugees to \u201ctake over\u201d parts of Minnesota, and claimed that \u201cSomali gangs are roaming the streets looking for prey.\u201d<\/p>\n
At one point, Trump used a derogatory slur to refer to Walz and made a dismissive remark about Omar\u2019s traditional hijab, sparking outrage across social media once the post spread outside Truth Social.<\/p>\n
