According to specialists, the main issue is that users often leave default passwords unchanged or fail to install critical security updates, making the devices easy targets for hackers. Once compromised, these smart devices can be used to access home Wi-Fi networks or collect personal data without the owner’s knowledge.
Experts warn that the threat is not just theoretical, as there have already been cases where smart devices were exploited for surveillance, unauthorized camera access, or data theft. Devices equipped with microphones or cameras are considered particularly vulnerable when basic security measures are ignored.
