She had spent several weeks under hospice care due to multiple serious health complications, including lymphedema — a condition where fluid builds up in the body’s tissues — and fluid accumulation in her lungs, which reportedly contributed to the worsening of her condition. The exact cause of death has not been officially released, but these complications were present in her final days.
Charity first gained public attention in Season 3 of My 600‑lb Life in 2015, documenting her struggle with extreme obesity. At the beginning of her journey, she weighed approximately 778 pounds (around 353 kg), facing food addiction, severe mobility challenges, and needing assistance with basic daily activities.
During her time on the show, under the guidance of bariatric surgeon Dr. Younan Nowzaradan, she lost about 280 pounds (around 127 kg) and underwent skin removal surgery, gaining greater mobility and independence. She also appeared in the spin-off series My 600‑lb Life: Where Are They Now?, where she shared her efforts to maintain a healthier lifestyle and strengthen her relationship with her daughter.
