Former President Donald Trump has issued pardons for two individuals whose crimes surfaced during investigations connected to the January 6, 2021, Capitol breach. Dan Edwin Wilson and Suzanne Kaye each received a โfull and unconditional pardonโ on November 14, according to documents released by U.S. Pardon Attorney Ed Martin. The filings state that Martin was authorized by Trump to execute the pardons on his behalf, noting that his actions were to be considered those of the president.
Suzanne Kaye previously served a federal prison sentence after allegedly posting threats on social media toward FBI agents, warning she would open fire if they came to her home to investigate claims she had been at the Capitol on January 6. She denied having gone to Washington that day and insisted she had no weapon or intention to threaten authorities. Prosecutors argued that her online posts contributed to a broader surge of violent political rhetoric. Kaye was released in 2024, and Martin later criticized what he described as the Biden administrationโs targeting of her.
In a separate pardon, Trump freed Dan Wilson, who had remained incarcerated during Trumpโs earlier round of clemencies because he was serving time for illegal firearm possession as a convicted felon. Investigators found multiple guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition in his home while he was under review for potential involvement in the Capitol attack. Trump also granted a third pardon unrelated to January 6, releasing Joseph Schwartz of New York, who had been convicted in a $38 million employment tax fraud scheme involving nursing homes nationwide. The pardons clear the way for all three individuals to rebuild their futures after their convictions.
