“I’m sorry… but I have to tell the truth,” he said. My hands went cold. I could hear whispers spreading across the room, chairs moving, phones already recording. “What truth?!” I asked, my voice breaking. He hesitated for a moment before saying, “I found out something last night…”
My heart dropped. Deep down, I already suspected what was coming — I just didn’t want it to be real. My father stepped forward, furious, demanding an explanation, but he ignored him and pulled out his phone.
“This message came from someone you trust more than anyone,” he said quietly, showing me the screen.
I tried to step back, shaking my head. “No… you don’t understand…” But then I saw the name — and everything inside me collapsed. It was my best friend. The messages, the proof… there was no way to deny it anymore.
The room filled with gasps as silence took over. He placed the ring down and looked at me one last time. “I deserved the truth,” he said — and then he walked away, leaving me standing there, realizing I hadn’t just lost a wedding… I had lost everything.
