Donald Trump is facing widespread backlash after posting an aggressive Thanksgiving message on Truth Social, where he used an insulting term to describe Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. See more…
The post, published around 4:30am, started with a holiday greeting but quickly shifted into a long political outburst. Trump repeated claims about immigration and suggested that migrants receive “around $50,000 a year in benefits,” a statement that has been heavily disputed.
He then launched into a harsh criticism of Somalia — the birthplace of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar — using negative descriptions about the country and its people. Trump accused Governor Walz of allowing Somali refugees to “take over” parts of Minnesota, and claimed that “Somali gangs are roaming the streets looking for prey.”
At one point, Trump used a derogatory slur to refer to Walz and made a dismissive remark about Omar’s traditional hijab, sparking outrage across social media once the post spread outside Truth Social.
Many users condemned the tone and timing of the message.
One commenter wrote: “Imagine spending Thanksgiving morning posting something like this. It’s pure hostility.”
Another added: “Using playground insults against an elected governor is embarrassing on a national level.”
A third person said: “The secondhand embarrassment from this is unreal.”
Governor Walz directly responded on X, questioning Trump’s mental fitness by writing: “Release the MRI results.”
He later shared a calm Thanksgiving message on Facebook, wishing Minnesotans a peaceful holiday with loved ones.
